Grainchromie
Natural End Grain pattern enhanced with colours
Grainchromie is our main body of work where we explore the natural patterns on timber’s end grain. This is possible using repetition and colour to enhance the organic arrangements and highlight the shapes inside the wood that otherwise wouldn’t be observable.
So far, there are two lines of investigation within Grainchromie, “Abstractions” where a random process takes place dominated by access to material (accumulation of off cuts), new combination of colours and the back/base material where the composition is presented. The other line of investigation is “Landmarks” where embedded memories and architectural dreams collide to represent human infrastructure and natural landscape that stood out, according to our vision of the world.
